The BMW Group is seeking a highly skilled Linux/Android Security Engineer to join our team of experts in shaping the future of automotive security. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and configuring security features across multiple layers of our Linux distribution, from hardware to end-user applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement security features to protect our infotainment systems against attacks, both over the air and from physical access.
  • Collaborate with our engineering team to develop innovative software solutions to mitigate complex security threats.
  • Integrate secure aspects of the Android platform and work with application teams to develop a modern and secure customer experience.
  • Perform threat modeling, threat analysis, and support other teams in implementing secure products.

Requirements:

  • University degree in computer science or a comparable field of study, ideally with a security focus.
  • Hands-on experience in Linux or/and Android security, including kernel hardening, Linux permissions, capabilities, namespaces, and secure RPC.
  • Knowledge of isolation techniques and containerization mechanisms is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of security principles, latest techniques, and operating system features, such as secure boot, disk encryption, SELinux, integrity protection, and cryptographic protocols.
  • Background with modern software development in C++, Java, Kotlin, or Python, with experience in Continuous Integration and Delivery tools.
  • Understanding of basic principles of threat modeling and practical experience is a plus.
  • Business-fluent English is required, German would be an advantage.
