We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Data Scientist to join our research group at the Universität Konstanz. As a PhD / Doctoral candidate, you will have the opportunity to develop strong data science skills and gain knowledge in molecular biology by conducting bioinformatics research towards a better understanding of cell identity and function.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze data from high-throughput sequencing experiments to study gene activity programs that regulate cell identity and function.
- Explore and select appropriate data analysis approaches to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying basic cell biology and diseased cellular states.
- Implement and document sequencing data analysis workflows to ensure reproducibility and efficiency.
- Apply and develop your own data science tools and approaches to analyze large high-throughput sequencing datasets.
- Interpret analysis results and contribute to publications and presentations of the lab.
- A Master's degree in a quantitative field or a medical/biological field with some experience in Bioinformatics / data analysis.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in English language.
- Intrinsic motivation and interest in understanding and studying the nature of life.
- Passion to analyze and understand large high-throughput sequencing datasets.
- Skills in programming and analyzing data, i.e. experience with programming languages such as R, Python, Bash, etc.
