Master's Researcher: Uranium Removal using Photovoltaic-Powered Nanofiltration

vor 2 Wochen

Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland Karlsruher Institut für Technologie Vollzeit
Job Description

Uranium contamination of groundwater poses a significant threat to human health, necessitating the development of effective removal technologies. This project aims to evaluate the removal of uranium from real water sources using a mobile pilot-scale photovoltaic-powered nanofiltration (PV-NF) system.

Project Objectives
  • Conduct field-based experiments to assess the removal of uranium from water using a pilot-scale PV-NF system.
  • Collect and analyze water samples using IAMT facilities, including uranium analysis via inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).
  • Analyze experimental data and contribute to writing a joint research publication in English.
Research Environment

Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) is a leading research institution with access to state-of-the-art facilities. This project is hosted by the Institute for Advanced Membrane Technology (IAMT) in new laboratories equipped with cutting-edge equipment. The research team is international, and English is the primary language for communication.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a Master's student in Chemical, Process, or Environmental Engineering, with a strong interest in research and a basic understanding of water chemistry, water treatment processes, and membrane technology. Evidence of writing skills in English, ability to learn data analysis software, and willingness to contribute to a scientific publication are essential.
