About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Microfluidics Engineer (m/w/d) to join our team at BRÜGGEN ENGINEERING GmbH. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative microfluidic systems for point of care diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new microfluidic test formats for point of care platforms and experimental evaluation of external test technologies
  • Develop diagnostic test carriers for immunochromatography (IC), clinical chemistry (CC), and blood gas/electrolyte (BGE) applications
  • Conduct experimental feasibility studies to evaluate new formats and materials
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of test carrier materials, surface structuring, and derivatization
  • Plan, execute, evaluate, document, and present work packages and sub-projects according to general guidelines
  • Conduct literature and patent research for conceptual development of new technologies
Requirements
  • Completed diploma or master's degree in engineering (m/w/d) in the field of microsystem technology, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or equivalent qualification with professional experience
  • Experience in research and development of medical technology or medical device engineering
  • Experience with test carrier development for point-of-care diagnostics, preferably microfluidics/lab-on-a-chip or electrochemical sensors (test strips, e.g., glucose, blood gas & electrolytes)
  • Willingness to work with human materials (blood samples)
  • Knowledge of analytical methods and experience with microscopy
  • Excellent German and English language skills
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility in a multidisciplinary environment
