We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our team at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich. As a key member of our Institute of Communications and Navigation, you will play a crucial role in the development of new system proposals for next-generation satellite navigation systems.

About the Position

The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical/information technology, physics, or mathematics, with a focus on satellite navigation and its supplementary systems. You will be responsible for leading the existing cross-sectional group "Project Management & Systems Engineering" and coordinating the department's research work on systems engineering and project management.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing new system proposals for next-generation satellite navigation systems
  • Leading the cross-sectional group "Project Management & Systems Engineering"
  • Coordinating the department's research work on systems engineering and project management
  • Ensuring high-precision time synchronization and time distribution within the space segment and between the space and ground segments
  • Working with international research teams and industry partners
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A completed scientific university degree (Master / Diploma) in engineering or natural sciences
  • Several years of experience in the field of satellite navigation and its supplementary systems
  • Comprehensive technical and methodological knowledge of system characteristics for developing new high-performance architectures and concepts
  • Proven experience in project management and planning, implementation, and management of international research projects
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Security clearance as well as the willingness to undergo security clearance pursuant to §§ 8 ff. Security Clearance Act (SÜG)
