Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for maintaining the system infrastructure of our research group, including administrating our Linux computer cluster, coordinating the procurement and installation of new hardware, and setting up and maintaining user accounts of our systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer our Linux computer cluster, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate the procurement and installation of new hardware, including servers, workstations, and network equipment.
  • Set up and maintain user accounts, including permissions and access controls.
  • Act as the group's IT representative, coordinating with central IT administration and providing technical support as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or comparable training in IT or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, and MacOS operating systems.
  • Previous experience in managing small-scale Linux-based GPU clusters is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with international colleagues and partners.
  • Ability to learn new subjects and technologies as needed.

Benefits

Salary category 11 TV-L, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
