We are seeking a skilled IT engineer to join our team at the Galileo Ground Segment Maintenance Engineering department. Located in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, our company provides reliable aerospace services and operates the Galileo satellites on behalf of the European Commission.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will support our Level 1 IT team in troubleshooting hardware and software issues related to the Galileo IT platform, ensuring its reliability and availability. This is a hands-on role that requires flexibility, continuous learning, and problem-solving skills.

About the Role:

  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues with the Galileo IT platform, including customized server, switch, and firewall architecture solutions.
  • Perform maintenance and administration tasks for the IT platform, including Unix and Windows systems.
  • Escalate complex problems to Level 2 and 3 support teams as needed.
  • Restore and verify new or replaced components in the Galileo ground segment.
  • Validate and execute maintenance procedures for GCC hardware and software used.
  • Optimize maintenance procedures based on existing documentation.
  • Document work and configurations in a ticket system.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and represent the company's interests to customers.
  • Support on-call duties after an intensive training period.
Your Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • A completed university degree in a technical or scientific engineering field, such as computer science, telecommunications, or business informatics.
  • Solid knowledge of various operating systems, including Linux and Windows (Server).
  • Basic Linux skills and proficient use of the command line (Shell).
  • Understanding of network protocols and database systems.
  • Experience in system/network engineering and administration is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and project management is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Galileo or other navigation ground segment is advantageous.
