Job Opportunity:
We are seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology. As part of our junior research group, you will be involved in the discovery of novel natural products and their potential applications in the field of microbial interactions.
About the Project:
Our research focuses on the exploration of the moss microbiome, a previously understudied habitat, to identify novel biosynthetic gene clusters and their corresponding natural products. You will be responsible for collecting bacterial strains from mosses, using bioinformatics tools to identify promising gene clusters, and characterizing them experimentally to isolate and determine the activities of the corresponding natural products.
Your Profile:
- Doctoral degree in life sciences or chemistry (e.g. chemical biology, biochemistry, microbiology, bioinformatics, or a related discipline)
- Experience in natural product isolation/characterization or bioinformatics (genome mining, metagenomics)
- Experience in working with plants is an advantage
- Experience in high-resolution mass spectrometry and metabolomics is a plus
- Data analysis and programming skills (Python) are beneficial
- Very good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
- Well-developed collaborative skills
