Friedrich Schiller University Jena is a leading institution in the field of molecular biology, and we are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our team.
The successful candidate will be part of our research group, led by Prof. Dr. Maria Mittag, and will be responsible for conducting interdisciplinary research in the areas of algal-bacterial interactions and algal photoperception.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and coordinating research projects in collaboration with our team and external partners
- Conducting experiments and data analysis to advance our understanding of molecular signaling components
- Supporting faculty teaching in the Bachelor and Master programs in Biology/Biochemistry and Molecular Life Sciences
- Supervising and supporting Bachelor and Master students
- Working on an own scientific qualification project, e.g. habilitation, tenure track professorship
We offer a top-level research environment, close interaction with collaboration partners, and a wide range of university sports activities. The position is offered as a fixed-term position for a maximum of 3 years with the possibility to extend.
Candidates with severe disabilities will be given preference in the case of equal qualifications and suitability.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced researcher with a PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, botany, phycology, microbiology, or a related subject. A very good knowledge of German and English is expected.
We offer a competitive salary based on the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Sector of the Federal States (TV-L) at / up to salary scale 13 — depending on the candidate's personal qualifications—, including a special annual payment in accordance with the collective agreement.
The advertised position is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with 30 days of vacation per calendar year plus two days off on December 24 and 31.
