Principal Software Engineer

About the Role

Grafana Labs is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our OpenTelemetry instrumentation team. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the technical direction of the team and leading business conversations on the OpenTelemetry strategy at Grafana Labs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in open-source communities, contributing to the OpenTelemetry specification and components across various programming languages.
  • Support and lead the technical direction of the team, driving business conversations on the OpenTelemetry strategy.
  • Be visible as an OpenTelemetry expert, teaching others and promoting best practices.

Requirements

  • Director-level scope with technical depth.
  • Passion for observability and a desire to share knowledge through documentation and blog posts.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to engage with customers.
  • Relevant open-source experience, ideally in OpenTelemetry or Prometheus.
  • A good understanding of typical production environments and the ability to mentor other team members.
