We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team at Forschungszentrum Jülich for a Master Thesis or Internship opportunity in the field of Quantum Optimization for Power Systems.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a thorough review of classical partitioning algorithms and spectral methods based on Network Modularity.
  • Identify use cases for graph partitioning in power systems related studies, specifically for State Estimation.
  • Develop new or tailor existing QUBO formulations for graph partitioning objectives to the use cases found in step 3.
  • Compare the partitioning found using classical algorithms with Quantum Optimization Ansatz.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled as a master student in a university.
  • Good background in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, or other related subjects.
  • Good programming skills.
  • Useful expertise in Graph Theory/Network Science, Power Systems, and Linear Algebra.
