Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our development teams at Ververica. In this role, you will work on building data-intensive solutions and report to the Head of Engineering. We believe in a flat hierarchy and create teams around subject matter expertise. You will have the opportunity to become part of one of the biggest and most active open source communities and do work that has a visible impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deploy data-intensive solutions using Apache Flink and other relevant technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for new features, improvements, and fixes, including problem breakdown, design, implementation, testing, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with developers to ensure seamless integration and delivery of projects.
  • Take ownership of components of the projects/products, including shaping their direction.
  • Mentor junior developers to help them grow and contribute to the team's success.
  • Participate in the Apache Flink community, contribute to open-source projects, and engage with users worldwide.
Requirements
  • Several years of industry experience or academic experience.
  • Deep understanding of Java and JVM mechanics.
  • Good knowledge of distributed and database systems.
  • Experience in building data-intensive applications or solutions.
  • Strong programming skills, including data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with software engineering principles, including clean, testable, and maintainable code.
  • Ability to debug and fix complex problems in distributed systems.
  • Interest in open-source software, working with users, and contributing to the Apache Flink community.
