School Counselor

The Guidance Counselor will provide a comprehensive school counseling program that assists all students in acquiring the skills and knowledge to maximize highest student achievement in a safe learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Counseling and experience in school counseling, with a focus on academic and career development.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the comprehensive school counseling program as outlined in the Schools Professional Counselor plan.
- Act as an advocate for all students and work in collaboration with other stakeholders to narrow the achievement gap.
- Provide professional leadership to establish a culture conducive to learning.
- Counsel individual and/or small groups of students with academic, career, and personal/social concerns.
- Assist students in developing a plan for achieving educational, career, and personal/social goals.
- Work with the Assistant Principal on student scheduling needs and serve as the dual-enrollment liaison between the high school and the college.
- Implement dual-enrollment degree pathway plans for individual students and consult with school-based teams to facilitate appropriate placement decisions.
- Lead the school's weekly student intervention meetings and serve as the graduation coach.
- Communicate with community agencies on behalf of students and coordinate with school and community agencies to broaden students' resources.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Counseling from an accredited college or university.
- State of Florida School Certification.
- Experience in school counseling, with a focus on academic and career development.
Working Conditions
This is a 10-month position, reporting to the principal.
