About the Role
SAP is seeking a highly skilled Data Science Manager to lead our Business AI Hub in Berlin. As a key member of our AI organization, you will be responsible for driving the development of the SAP Foundation Model for structured data embedded in various business applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Applied AI Scientists and Data Engineers to develop and implement AI solutions for business applications.
- Be accountable for the success, quality, and delivery of machine learning components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software products.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence in software development.
- Act as a problem solver to address organizational and process challenges, leveraging technical expertise to bridge gaps and streamline operations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AI and data engineering trends and apply this expertise to improve team performance and product quality.
- Contribute to thought leadership in revolutionary new data modalities for Foundation Models and Generative AI.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or other relevant disciplines.
- 10+ years of experience working as a Data Scientist or similar roles, with experience in training large deep learning models and working with real-world data.
- Expertise in Foundation and Transformer Models, with a strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and techniques, especially in relation to structured data application in business.
- Deep understanding of issues and opportunities of applying Generative AI in a business context.
- Demonstrated exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with responsibilities including setting and achieving team goals, delegating tasks, mentoring team members, and effectively managing and communicating within large, diverse teams.
- Ideal experience with machine learning on structured data such as in the ERP or CRM domain, and experience with data privacy-preserving AI.
- Very good communication skills in English language.
