About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Policy and Public Funding Manager to join our team at SMARTENERGY Group AG in Hamburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, applying for, and managing public funding opportunities for our green hydrogen- and related projects in Germany.

Key Responsibilities
  • Public Funding Opportunities: Identify and pursue public funding opportunities for green hydrogen projects and other technologies, including grants and blended financing instruments focusing on Germany.
  • Funding Application Management: Prepare and submit funding applications, including project proposals and budget estimates, in collaboration with project development and engineering teams.
  • Project Management: Manage the reporting and compliance requirements associated with funding agreements, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines.
  • Consortium Management: Manage consortia of projects and partners across the hydrogen and energy ecosystem, fostering alignment on common targets, policies, and requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with government agencies and funding partners, as well as lead activities with German associations and stakeholders.
  • Thought Leadership: Participate in conferences and exhibitions, representing SMARTENERGY Group AG and contributing to the development of industry knowledge and best practices.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as business, finance, or engineering.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in public funding, grant writing, and project management or similar experience, ideally with previous experience in applying for public funding for renewable projects.
  • Language Skills: German native or C2 (Proficient) level, with excellent overall English proficiency (verbal and written) and additional language skills in Portuguese, Spanish, French, and/or Italian highly welcomed.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, driven personality, independent working style, practical, analytical, and logical problem-solving skills.
