Environmental, Social, and Governance Analyst

We are seeking a skilled ESG Analyst or Intern to become a part of our client solutions team at Atlas Metrics. Your primary responsibility will be to create exceptional ESG solutions and analytical insights for our clients, assisting organizations in their journey towards success on the Atlas Metrics platform. As an early member of a rapidly expanding VC-backed startup, you will be instrumental in executing successful pilot projects with a diverse and global client base, propelling the digital transformation of ESG data. You will collaborate with an international team of seasoned ESG professionals and software engineers, based in Berlin, during the formative stages of our mission to develop the leading ESG software solution.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to support clients in achieving their ESG objectives.
- Create client-facing presentations and datasets, and assist in formulating actionable strategies and recommendations that align with industry best practices.
- Investigate emerging ESG trends and serve as a knowledgeable resource on essential ESG standards, frameworks, and regulations (e.g., GRI, SASB, ISSB, CDP, TCFD, SBTi, NFRD, SFDR, EU Taxonomy).
- Work in conjunction with product development teams as we create the premier ESG software solution, thriving in a highly entrepreneurial setting.
General Qualifications
- Analytical Skills: You possess a passion for working with ESG data and can structure and analyze complex information to extract meaningful insights. Proficiency in Excel is essential.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: You are results-oriented and flourish in a startup atmosphere. You have a solid grasp of core business priorities and KPIs. Your creative thinking, solution-oriented mindset, adaptability to change, and commitment to continuous innovation are key attributes.
- Technological Interest: You are enthusiastic about contributing to a technology product and can collaborate effectively with software engineers. You are driven to leverage data and technology to meet ESG and broader sustainability objectives.
- Team Collaboration: You work well with colleagues and prioritize the team's best interests. Your exceptional communication skills enable you to thrive in a remote-first environment within a distributed team. You value diversity and inclusion.
- Fluency in English and German is required; additional languages are advantageous.
- This position can be based in Berlin or performed remotely, allowing you to choose the setup that suits you best. Remote candidates should be within +/- 3 hours of Berlin time.
Analyst-Specific Qualifications:
- ESG Experience: You have 1-3 years of experience in ESG, likely within a company, investment firm, or consultancy. Your expertise encompasses key ESG topics, reporting standards, frameworks, and regulations. An academic degree in sustainability, environmental studies, or a related field is preferred.
- Client-Focused Approach: You think strategically about how clients can enhance their processes for collecting, managing, and reporting ESG information. You can convey complex topics and assist business leaders in understanding the significance of ESG. You envision creating new and impactful solutions that clients will appreciate.
Internship-Specific Qualifications:
- Passion for ESG: You are a final-year student or recent graduate with skills applicable to ESG analysis; for instance, you hold an academic degree in sustainability, environmental studies, or a related field. Previous work experience or internships in the ESG sector are beneficial.
- Internships are initially for 3 months, with the potential for transitioning into a full-time role based on performance.
