Optical Network Engineer

Colt Technology Services is seeking a highly skilled Optical & Ethernet Network Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our network operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our pan-European MPLS infrastructure and Optical & Ethernet services.
Key Responsibilities:- Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve faults across our network infrastructure and services.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to manage and coordinate tasks related to network maintenance and upgrades.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support, ensuring timely resolution of customer issues.
- Develop and implement solutions to recurring problems in Optical and Ethernet networks.
- Generate technical reports for customers and stakeholders as required.
- Excellent understanding of Optical and Ethernet based networks, including implementation, commissioning, maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with network management via GUI and CLI.
- Knowledge of Layer 1-2-3 Services and Technologies, including MSP, Ethernet, DWDM systems.
- Experience working with global network providers, NOC, and field support operations teams.
- Excellent customer and service-oriented communication skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to learn and implement technical information quickly and make decisions efficiently.
- Experience with Layer 3 services and technologies.
- Understanding of IP fundamentals and various protocols.
- Experience with ITIL.
