About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Expert in Short-Term Energy Trading to join our team at BASF. As a key member of our Renewable Energy business, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for trading renewable energy in day-ahead and intraday markets to manage our renewables portfolio, BASF-owned CHP power plants, and site demand.
  • Optimize renewable power production from own assets based on continuous analysis of multiple market and weather data sources to derive trading decisions and strategies to maximize our P&L.
  • Challenge existing solutions and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure and develop operations management within the business management team, including market access and balancing models.
  • Integrate BASF-owned CHP power plants, renewables projects, and PPA contracts into the BASF Renewable Energy business model.

Requirements

  • Completed university studies in physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or economics.
  • Experience in short-term energy trading.
  • Excellent knowledge of power markets and regulations in EU countries.
  • Experience in and understanding of power markets, as well as in building new business.
  • Proactive entrepreneurial attitude, strong orientation on results with a commercial mindset, Can-Do mentality, and ability to work independently and under time pressure.
  • Team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent language skills in English, written and spoken; German is a plus.
