Job Title: Legal Entity Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Entity Controller to join our team in Frankfurt. As a Legal Entity Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting for our legal entities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual financial statements and statutory audits, working closely with our auditors.
  • Lead on technical accounting areas, particularly German GAAP, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Facilitate and liaise with regulators on accounting topics, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Review and analyze monthly and quarterly management accounts under US GAAP, IFRS, and German GAAP, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Reporting team in New York to ensure seamless quarterly consolidated reporting.
  • Review and analyze reporting to the Federal Reserve Board, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate with the US, UK, and EU tax teams on local and foreign tax issues, VAT returns, and annual tax returns.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our business and stay up-to-date with business developments, effectively communicating this to team members.
  • Proactively identify improvements to manual processes and management reporting information, leading to higher value-added work.
  • Participate in department-wide projects and initiatives, as well as cross-departmental initiatives, driving innovation and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Qualified accountant (German Chartered Auditor or National equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in an accounting environment, preferably in the financial services industry in Germany.
  • Academic degree in finance or business administration preferred.
  • Business fluency in German (native) and English.
  • Detailed knowledge of accounting rules (German GAAP / IFRS / USGAAP).
  • Attention to detail and time management are essential skills for this role, as well as flexibility to work in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines.
  • Strong computing skills, comfortable with large data sets.
  • Strong communication skills, able to effectively communicate with a broad range of people across the firm at various levels of seniority.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to run with issues, get involved, and provide constant high-quality feedback.
