Job Overview

As a highly skilled Optical Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of cutting-edge sensor components for TOMRA's sorting machines. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in optics, electronics, and software development to drive innovation and improve the performance of our systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and test spectroscopic imaging systems, high-power laser optics, and their components.
  • Evaluate optical parts from second sources and end-of-life (EOL) suppliers.
  • Continuously improve optical sensor systems to meet evolving customer needs.
  • Define, plan, and implement test tools and setups to ensure high-quality component production.
  • Develop optical component specifications to meet TOMRA's stringent quality standards.
  • Provide technical support to production, strategic purchasing, and quality assurance departments.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or diploma in applied physics, optical engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with optical detectors, optical spectrometers, and analogue electronics.
  • Background in physics, preferably with knowledge and experience with pulsed lasers.
  • Familiarity with optical design tools (Zemax) or circuit modeling software (LTSPICE) is an advantage.
  • Broad technical interests, with a keen desire to expand knowledge in optics, electronics, and software engineering.
  • Analytical and systematic approach, with a drive for innovative solutions.
  • Programming skills, particularly in Python, are an asset.
  • Fluent English, with a basic knowledge of German.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for business purposes.
