In the role of Engineering Manager, you will oversee a team of 5 to 10 talented and innovative Platform Engineers, currently organized into two distinct teams. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that our products and the underlying workloads achieve the high standards of production and operational quality that our customers expect. As a proactive leader, you will cultivate strong teams and individual contributors, driving goal attainment and aligning technical excellence with business priorities.

Your collaboration with your teams will be crucial in making decisions regarding Platform-as-a-Product, prioritizing tasks, delivering features, and fostering a technical culture that emphasizes knowledge sharing and mentorship. You will spearhead company-wide initiatives such as our ongoing Production Excellence Initiative and assist in resolving issues and managing escalations.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership and Development: Directing 1-2 engineering teams, offering guidance, mentoring, conducting salary and performance evaluations, and supporting team success and professional growth.
  • Technical Vision and Strategy: Collaborating closely with technical leadership to shape the technical culture and align technical strategies with overarching business goals (including VPs, Heads of, Architecture, Security Officer).
  • Company-wide Technical Excellence: Leading and advocating for company-wide technical initiatives and overseeing their entire lifecycle with your teams. Key focus areas in SRE and security include operational excellence, IT processes (e.g., Incident Management), and both offensive and defensive security.
  • Talent Acquisition: Partnering with our recruitment team to attract and retain top-tier technical talent.
Your Experience:
  • Proven track record in hiring and managing teams that have successfully delivered and maintained highly available, distributed systems.
  • Several years of hands-on experience in Site Reliability Engineering and Security Engineering.
  • Experience with product discovery methodologies for (internal) customers.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with Threat Modeling, OWASP SAMM, Security Information & Event Management (SIEM).
  • Bonus: Familiarity with ISO27001, PCI-DSS, Critical Infrastructure Protection.
