Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Platform Team Lead to join our team. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a multidisciplinary team, fostering growth and development, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Data Platform team, identifying and addressing gaps in team capabilities and performance.
  • Enhance team performance and working environment through the application of agile methodologies and engineering excellence practices.
  • Design and implement quality technical solutions in the central Data Platform, utilizing best practices for data architecture, data quality, and data governance.
  • Lead projects in the Data Platform team, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
  • Operate the data platform, ensuring data quality and accessibility according to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts across the company to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure data protection and security according to internal policies and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data engineering and at least 2 years of experience as a manager.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building and leading high-performing data engineering teams.
  • Understanding of a wide range of tools and technologies in modern data and analytics tech stacks.
  • Solid knowledge of concepts, architectural patterns, and best practices relevant for data platforms for analytics.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex projects in a timely manner.
  • Experience with applying agile methodologies and engineering excellence practices to development teams.
  • Experience with building cloud-based data platforms, with AWS experience being a plus.
  • Proficiency in building data integrations and processing pipelines (ETL/ELT), data modeling, RDBMS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
  • Expert knowledge of SQL, strong programming skills in Python for data processing, and familiarity with Spark, with experience in SAP Business Warehouse or BW/4HANA being a plus.
  • Fluent English, with German being a plus.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
