Job Title: Head of Functional Safety

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Functional Safety team at Covestro. As the Head of Functional Safety, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of our process control systems and maintaining the highest level of plant availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of engineers and develop their skills to ensure the highest level of technical expertise in functional safety.
  • Provide technical expertise in all aspects of functional safety and develop test plans to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Work with the team to provide expertise in reliability and process control technology to ensure high plant availability.
  • Ensure that all external and internal requirements are met, including safety regulations, technical standards, and legal requirements.
  • Support the maintenance management team in developing solutions for functional safety within safety considerations for complex tasks.
  • Participate in international working groups on functional safety to stay up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain uniform FS standards and localize global technical standards.
  • Manage incident data and create PCT basic trainings.
Requirements:
  • University degree in process engineering, process technology, chemistry, physics, automation technology, or a comparable qualification.
  • Many years of practical experience and knowledge in engineering, maintenance, or production, ideally in the field of functional safety.
  • Solid knowledge of technical best practices and standards, processes, tools, and systems regarding plant maintenance.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, as well as extensive leadership experience and abilities.
  • Open-minded, flexible, creative, and willing to drive continuous improvement and change.
  • Strong analytical skills, innovative spirit, and independent and structured way of working.
  • Ability to take on legal responsibility for electrical safety.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
