At the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), we are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Neuroimmunology Research Associate to join our dynamic team.
About the PositionThis is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the interface of neuroscience and immunology. As a member of the 'Translational Neuroimmunology' research group, you will be working under the supervision of Dr. Róisín McManus, exploring the complex relationships between immune signaling, metabolic changes, and microglial function in the context of Alzheimer's disease.
Using a combination of innovative laboratory techniques, including cell culture work, immune activation assays, and state-of-the-art lab equipment, your primary goal will be to unravel the innate immune pathways mediating neuroinflammatory changes caused by dietary factors.
About Our Work- We investigate how consumption of a western diet affects lipid metabolism, leading to microglia activation and subsequent neuroinflammation.
- Our recent studies have shown that certain lipid changes can drive neuroinflammatory responses, contributing to Alzheimer's disease progression.
- As part of this position, you will employ murine cell culture models, immune activation assays, and cutting-edge biochemical techniques to dissect these intricate mechanisms.
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A MSc degree in Immunology, Neuroscience, Biology, or a related field.
- Previous experience in experimental animal work, immunology, neuroscience, or cell metabolism research would be highly beneficial.
- FELASA accreditation is a strong plus.
- Hands-on experience with cell culture, biochemistry techniques, and familiarity with immunohistochemistry or flow cytometry.
- Fluency in English for effective communication, writing, and presentation of scientific data.
- A strong enthusiasm for innovation and exploration of new techniques.
- The willingness to work in a diverse, interdisciplinary team of international scientists.
