Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a medical-scientific subject matter expert, leading scientific communication for assigned digital areas, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality results.
- Monitor the publication landscape through targeted literature searches to educate internal stakeholders and inform content development.
- Focus on data processing in close cooperation with regulatory affairs, and develop strategies with clinical affairs, business units, and other areas.
- Provide medical insight through literature analyses, answering dedicated research questions that inform product solutions.
- Formulate scientific claims for new products in a cross-functional team, managing substantiating evidence, and develop strategic integrated publication plans.
- Manage external expert stakeholders, such as authors and publication steering committees, to provide advice and shape the publication plan strategy.
- Assume responsibility for incorporating medical value grounded in science and existing evidence into value messaging and scientific narrative of devices and/or technologies.
- Create tailored medical education content for internal and external stakeholders via the best communication channel.
- Continuously evaluate nascent communication channels and methods to meet information consumption habits and increase awareness of Olympus technology and clinical programs.
- Manage professional relationships with assigned business units, marketing, and commercial, and other relevant Olympus stakeholders.
- Contribute to scientific communication governance by developing key performance indicators, reports, and reporting structures.
- Interface and collaborate with external stakeholders and internal cross-functional teams to ensure delivery of medical information according to plan and with quality.
Requirements
- University degree in life sciences or related field, preferred: additional degree such as PhD, MBA.
- 5+ years industry experience within a device/pharmaceutical company, preferably in multiple phases and roles, and with ideally 1-2 years of experience in medical and scientific communications.
- Strong affinity for digital solutions, big data experience, AI experience, and budget and forecasting experience.
- Ability to think strategically, critically analyze and synthesize complicated data and scientific information, and strong consulting, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Comfortable liaising with KOLs to manage publication plans and chair publication steering committee meetings.
- A high level of energy, self-confidence, persuasive charm, and the ability to function at peak levels in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
- Proactive with a sense of urgency, a clear set of priorities, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to think strategically, critically analyze and synthesize complicated data and scientific information, and knowledge and ability to navigate and apply compliance policies to all interactions.
- Experience working in a global cross-functional team environment and knowledge and/or experience working with groups with varied cultural backgrounds and learning styles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
