About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer - Propulsion to join our team at Volocopter GmbH. As a key member of our mechanical engineering department, you will be responsible for all structural topics in propulsion units, including structural design, stress analysis, testing, and compliance demonstration.
Key Responsibilities
- Define test strategy, test bench selection, test plan, and report preparation for structural topics
- Perform analysis activities such as fatigue, damage tolerance, and static strength using FEM simulation tools and hand calculation
- Certify and verify aerospace structures, preferably in propulsion units, in accordance with relevant standards and regulations
- Work with PLM Software, ideally Siemens Teamcenter, to manage and track design changes and updates
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of structural design with other engineering disciplines
Requirements
- Master's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 4+ years of professional experience as a mechanical design engineer designing, performing initial structural analysis, and validating composite and metallic structures
- Experience in structural analysis with FEM simulation tools and hand calculation
- Experience in certifying and verifying aerospace structures, preferably in propulsion units
- Experience with PLM Software, ideally Siemens Teamcenter
- Knowledge of static, fatigue, thermal, and vibration analysis in structures
- Hands-on experience in test activities to define test parameters, loading, and prepare relevant documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in working with aerospace standards and development processes such as CS23/CS27/SC-VTOL/DO-160G/EHPS
- Experience in using HyperMesh, Nastran, OptiStruct
- Experience in software-related project management (Jira)
- Basic knowledge in working with CAD Software, ideally Siemens NX
