We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with our Research Group "Statistical Genetics" and contribute to the development of cutting-edge artificial intelligence and software solutions for behavioural quantification.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain tasks of DeepOF, a Python package for post-hoc analysis of pose estimation data for rodents.
- Design and implement new algorithms for supervised and unsupervised embedding of animal motion.
- Extend and generalise the software to new animals, adding multimodal integration models.
- Closely collaborate with international research groups using the software.
- PhD in biology, computer science, or a related field.
- Experience with functional and object-oriented programming in Python.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow / PyTorch) is desired.
- Experience with time series modelling / processing is desired.
- Strong interest in understanding the biological mechanisms underlying stress-related disorders.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent skills in spoken and written English.
- A multi-disciplinary environment that fosters close collaborations between basic scientists and clinicians.
- Close contact with the DeepOF original developers.
- State-of-the-art facilities and a collaborative environment across statistics/computer science and behavioural science experts.
- Access to proper hardware to develop and train state-of-the-art models.
- Travel budget to visit national and international conferences or workshops.
- Soft skill and career-oriented courses for post-docs.
- Flexible work hours and the opportunity for occasional home office.
- Full-time position (100%) for 24 months with a possibility for prolongation.
