Position Overview
The Accounting division at RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWEST) is responsible for managing the financial aspects of commodity transactions within RWE's extensive trading operations, as well as preparing segment financial statements for RWEST.

The CAO & Settlement department serves as the primary commodity accounting service provider for both conventional and renewable assets within the RWE Group, alongside RWEST's Commercial Asset Optimisation (CAO) team. Our responsibilities include processing and settling all commodity-related invoices globally for the RWE Group.

We are in search of a proficient and committed (Senior) Commodity Accountant to enhance our team. In this capacity, you will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive commodity accounting services for the RWE Group's diverse asset portfolio.

  • Collaborate closely with the Commodity Accounting Team Lead to execute all CAO CE commodity accounting functions, including m2m accounting, non-operating result postings, and cash-out processes.
  • Work in tandem with RWEST's Accounting Principles department to assess new business transactions.
  • Maintain strong relationships with RWEST's Controlling team to clarify CAO CE financials and ensure accurate representation in the RWEST Finance Report.
  • Act as the primary customer liaison for all OpCos within the RWE Group regarding commodity accounting services.
  • Partner with the team lead to drive the transformation and integration of accounting services for both renewable and conventional segments of the RWE Group.
  • Engage closely with auditors to address all RWE Group CE commodity accounting inquiries.
  • Support group-wide initiatives within the CAO domain.
  • Enhance processes and procedures to fulfill all reporting requirements efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in accounting.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a background in handling complex data.
  • Solid understanding of the energy sector and energy trading.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and German-GAAP.
  • Familiarity with commodity markets and the commercial operations of power plants/renewable assets.
  • Proficient in SAP FI and Microsoft Excel.
  • Adept at quickly grasping business drivers and needs in relation to accounting strategies and policies.
  • Independent, organized, solution-oriented, and analytical in approach.
  • Fluent in both German and English.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with SAP S4/HANA.
  • Proficient in MS Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, and SQL.
  • Additional skills in data analysis.
  • Experience with internal projects aimed at improving processes and data quality.
