Position Overview:

The Division of Agriculture of the University of Arkansas is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Program Technician. This position primarily involves hands-on fieldwork related to irrigation water management, with a focus on both laboratory and outdoor activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field activities including the installation and repair of irrigation systems.
  • Engage in agricultural practices such as planting, harvesting, and crop maintenance.
  • Utilize data logging equipment for information retrieval and manual data collection.
  • Perform statistical analysis and data summarization for various field experiments.
  • Operate and maintain agricultural machinery, including ATVs, and perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy equipment.
  • Travel to cooperating farms for testing and evaluation of irrigation pumps and related technologies.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanized Systems Management, Agricultural Technology Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Skills: Familiarity with agricultural practices, irrigation systems, and mechanical equipment is advantageous.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
