Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a FAIR data repository for both primary and derived datasets in collaboration with INTeRCePT partners, leveraging EMBL's advanced IT infrastructure.
  • Conduct data import processes, initial quality assurance and control, and perform thorough checks for consistency and completeness, alongside proper documentation and metadata management.
  • Establish necessary conditions for seamless dataset integration, ensuring identifier consistency throughout.
  • Assist researchers in locating, accessing, and resolving issues related to data.
  • Facilitate data uploads to public repositories in alignment with scientific publications, under the guidance of research teams.
  • Create user-friendly interfaces for data visualization and exploration, and execute data transformations to optimize datasets for machine learning and AI applications.
  • Modify and enhance open-source scientific software to support the aforementioned tasks effectively.
  • Engage with the global scientific community in data management and research software engineering, contributing to open-source tools and educational resources.

Contract Details

  • Contract duration: until 12/2026
  • Grading: 4, 5, 6 based on experience and qualifications (monthly salary starting at €3,607 after tax, excluding pension and insurance) + benefits

Your Qualifications

  • A university degree in natural or life sciences, with experience in biological data analysis. A PhD and experience in scientific computing are advantageous.
  • A keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Proficiency in R and Python: strong in at least one language, with basic knowledge in the other.
  • A passion for developing interactive web applications using tools such as Shiny and Quarto.
