Job Title: Optics Engineer

Join Corning as an Optics Engineer and contribute to the development of innovative optical interconnects that shape the future of technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in projects with global impact on optical interconnects, driving innovation and excellence.
  • Design, develop, and test optical subassemblies, ensuring high-quality and reliability.
  • Select and evaluate optical components, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize performance.
  • Develop and transfer products and processes to production, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Test and characterize optical interconnects, providing critical insights for product improvement.
  • Support product development for fiber-optical modules and components, driving innovation and growth.
  • Write technical reports and specifications, communicating complex ideas effectively.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Physics or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in the optical component industry.
  • Experience in setting up semi-automated and automated assembly stations.
  • Strong background in manufacturing processes of optical components.
  • Fundamental knowledge of telecommunication laser sources, detectors, and optical fibers.
  • Expertise in mechanical design, thermal modeling, and precision placement.
  • CAD Design (ProE or similar).
  • Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
Desired Requirements:
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Experience in quality management of processes (Six sigma).
  • LabView programming.
  • Experience in software programming (C, C++, Matlab).
Soft Skills:
  • Ability to work unsupervised and schedule time effectively.
  • Excellent English (spoken and written).
  • Able to work across regional boundaries and cultures.
  • Drive and commitment to implement new processes and products.
