Software Project Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Project Engineer to join our team at ALFRED Maritime GmbH. As a key member of our core team, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and managing the installation of IIoT and AI software solutions on cruise ships.
Your primary focus will be on configuring and commissioning software and hardware solutions, as well as interfacing them with ship's automation systems and navigation systems. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting and providing structured feedback to our product management and development team for improving the configurability and new requirements for interfacing.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of B2B software deployment, installation, configuration, commissioning, and troubleshooting. You will also need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, as well as good interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work in an international team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and manage the installation of IIoT and AI software solutions on cruise ships.
- Configure and commission software and hardware solutions, as well as interface them with ship's automation systems and navigation systems.
- Troubleshoot and provide structured feedback to our product management and development team for improving the configurability and new requirements for interfacing.
- Provide handover training to the team onboard and support customers locally and remotely in using the system.
- Collaborate with diversely skilled core team and come up with ideas for installing new sensors and IIoT infrastructure components for identified problems.
Requirements:
- Software engineering education.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- A good understanding of B2B software deployment, installation, configuration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- 2–4 years of field experience in commissioning software/hardware solutions in the maritime sector.
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work in an international team.
- A good understanding and capability to build and modify computer software/scripts, such as JSON files, Ansible scripts, XML files, shell (bash) scripts, and SSH connections/tunnels.
- A big bonus: A good understanding of various industry-standard interfacing protocols, such as Modbus (RTU/TCP), NMEA (TCP/Serial), OPC-DA, OPC-UA, MQTT.
