Electrocatalysis and 3D Printing Research Opportunity

As part of a dynamic team at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of sustainable solutions for a resource-efficient future. The Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology UMSICHT is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to work on a Master Thesis project focused on the application of 3D printing in electrocatalysis.

Project Overview

The project aims to explore the potential of 3D printing in the development of electrocatalytic processes for the sustainable production of hydrogen and other important basic and specialty chemicals. You will work closely with our team to design, develop, and optimize 3D-printed electrodes for use in electrochemical cells.

Responsibilities
  • Development of filament compositions for FDM printers
  • Development and printing of electrode structures
  • Testing the printed structures in electrochemical cells
  • Evaluation and interpretation of test results
Requirements
  • Studies in natural sciences or engineering, e.g. chemistry, process engineering, mechanical engineering or a similar field of study
  • Enthusiasm for innovation and creativity, especially in the areas of 3D printing and electrochemical processes
  • Ideally, you have basic knowledge of 3D printing and some experience in laboratory work
  • Good knowledge of English or German
  • Enjoy teamwork
