Senior System Engineer (m/f/d) for Space System Studies in Development Programs Defence & Security
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of technical proposal components (BAAINBw, ESA, EDA, EC, NATO, export, etc.) Engage in system engineering from Phase-0 to D for projects related to Space-based Defence and Security Systems Analyze customer, mission, and system requirements (specifications, SoW), including conducting functional analyses, defining requirements hierarchies, and identifying proposed modifications Execute architectural designs for space systems, ground segments, and data processing Perform system/subsystem trade-offs as necessary Coordinate technical tasks with various engineering disciplines Facilitate technical coordination with consortium partners and subcontractors Lead and coordinate sub-projects and internal initiatives Share responsibility for project performance (schedule, cost, quality) as part of overall project success Undertake other reasonable and equivalent tasks in line with existing knowledge and skills Report directly to the Head of Development Programs Defence & Security.Required Qualifications
Completed studies (Diploma or Master) in aerospace engineering or a related field Extensive professional experience in satellite engineering projects, ideally encompassing the entire space system and focusing on Defence and Security Strong expertise in system design and integration, interface management, specification, DDVP, technology breadboarding, and risk management Proficient in requirements analysis for subsystems of space systems Familiarity with the preparation of specifications Knowledgeable in design and development planning (DDV/AIV), including assessing qualification status (TRL) Experience with relevant standards and processes (ECSS, INCOSE) Highly motivated with a proactive work ethic and a strong sense of accountability Excellent negotiation skills Strong communication, presentation, and documentation abilities Capability and willingness to obtain a German security clearance Proficient in both spoken and written (Business) English; German language skills are highly desirableWhat We Offer
