The ideal candidate will possess a blend of robust technical expertise in hardware, physical network configuration, and effective communication abilities. This individual should be highly analytical, detail-oriented, self-driven, and maintain a positive, humble approach focused on achieving results. This role includes mentoring and training fellow Service technicians in the field. Technicians are also expected to provide constructive feedback, document both technical and non-technical processes, and contribute to our knowledge repository, which may include creating KB Articles, SOPs, and lessons learned. Furthermore, the Technician will engage with both internal teams and external clients, demonstrating the capability to lead and complete assigned initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose server hardware problems, performing root cause analysis and failure assessments.
- Conduct systematic experiments to identify the underlying causes of failures.
- Assist in global field deployments by managing equipment, software, and supporting technicians.
- Monitor server fleet health and analyze trends and unidentified issues.
- Utilize Linux and Windows Command-Line for hardware diagnostics.
- Establish physical networks, troubleshoot layers 1-3, and manage cabling efficiently.
- Collaborate with network administrators to configure switches and update port maps.
- Communicate effectively with team members, organize preparatory meetings, and provide daily progress reports.
- Develop SOPs, knowledge documentation, and facilitate training sessions.
- Deliver precise feedback to engineering teams regarding failures and serviceability challenges.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in issue investigation and documentation.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Data Center Technician.
- In-depth knowledge of server hardware with experience in root cause analysis and failure assessment.
- Proficient in network troubleshooting and cable management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Adaptability to new products and technologies.
- Prior experience in a similar capacity is preferred.
- High school diploma required.
- Capability to regularly lift items weighing up to 50lbs, or collaborate for heavier items.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as within a geographically dispersed team.
