Principal, Employee Relations Specialist

We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our People & Culture team as a Principal, Employee Relations. This role will play a critical part in shaping our employment practices and ensuring a positive employee experience.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in German employment law and employee relations, with a proven track record of managing works councils and implementing employment-related projects. They will be a strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate complex legal concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert advice and guidance on employment-related matters, including disciplinary procedures, grievances, and performance management.
- Developing and implementing employment policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local employment law.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with business leaders, HR partners, and works councils to drive positive employee relations.
- Collaborating with the Employment Legal team to ensure that employment-related decisions are informed by sound legal advice.
- Preparing information and consultation documents for works councils and participating in negotiations with works councils in committee proceedings.
Requirements include:
- At least 5+ years of experience in German employment law and employee relations or similar roles.
- A Bachelor's degree, ideally with a focus on HR or Employment Law.
- Fluency in English; German is a plus.
- Proven track record of working from election to implementation of works councils and managing works councils in demanding environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Structured thinking and experience in program/project management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and communicate complex legal concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
