Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our commercial department, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing all financial aspects of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Cost Management: Prepare and monitor internal and external costs throughout each project, ensuring financial targets are met and reporting any potential issues to senior management.
- Tender and Contract Review: Analyze construction contracts and tender documents to ensure full understanding and compliance, developing comprehensive cost plans that align with commercial standard operating procedures.
- Supplier and Sub-contractor Procurement: Manage the procurement process for major supplier and sub-contractor packages, ensuring all are in line with established commercial procedures.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit monthly valuations and variations to clients, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines. Audit sub-contractor payment applications and handle the submission of pay-less notices as required.
- Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all contract documents, including collateral warranties and sub-contractor agreements, are prepared and submitted correctly. Maintain and update the company's document management systems in accordance with the latest guidelines and procedures.
- Project Tracking: Monitor labour hours and other project metrics to identify potential issues. Regularly review site programmes to assess progress and identify any delays or disruptions.
- Meetings and Collaboration: Attend and contribute to internal and external commercial meetings, fostering a collaborative approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
- Education: A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is required.
- Industry Experience: Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the mechanical, electrical, or building services sectors. A proven track record in managing complex construction projects is essential.
- Skills: Strong understanding of the tendering and construction processes. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team and liaise confidently with clients and stakeholders.
