The ideal candidate is a technical expert who can engage in hands-on engineering tasks while also serving as a technical leader who drives ideation, discussions, and execution, influencing stakeholders and mentoring engineering teams. Staying current with industry trends, they leverage their technology and domain expertise to enhance products, practices, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product management, customer success, senior leadership, external partners, and clients to comprehend and discuss requirements and long-term product strategies.
- Deepen your understanding of Nevis' value proposition.
- Partner with Engineering and SRE teams to define software architecture and technology strategies that address product and business needs while considering existing architecture and constraints.
- Deliver technology roadmaps, architecture blueprints, and software design concepts. Spearhead the adoption of new technologies and the phase-out of outdated ones.
- Facilitate technology discussions and present architectural and technical solutions to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist teams in translating architecture into detailed designs, providing support throughout the implementation as necessary.
- Aid teams in planning and estimations, particularly for high-risk or innovative development tasks.
- Participate in code and design reviews for complex and innovative features.
- Engage in the implementation of complex and innovative features when required.
- Provide assistance in managing escalations when technical challenges arise, participating in investigations and resolutions as needed.
- Stay informed about industry trends in software technology, best practices, and security-specific topics, applying this knowledge to technical decisions.
- Develop prototypes and proof of concepts for new features and technologies, evaluating and presenting findings.
- Enhance and refine the methodologies, practices, and tools utilized by engineering teams.
- Foster the development of technical skills within the engineering community through mentoring, training, and shaping the overall engineering culture.
- Participate in recruitment efforts as needed and assist in onboarding new team members.

- A BSc or MSc degree in a STEM field with over 7 years of hands-on software development experience.
- Proven experience in a technical leadership or architect role.

- Exceptional prioritization and problem-solving abilities.
- A capacity to foster innovation and act as a change agent.
- Skills in technical coaching and mentoring, along with the ability to deliver technical training.
- Knowledge of modern architectural patterns relevant to cloud and hybrid deployment environments.
- Experience with the SaaS delivery model, including operational aspects.
- Familiarity with enterprise, web, and cloud-based application development, as well as related technologies (e.g., Java, Angular, Spring Boot, K8s, RDBMS, OpenTelemetry).
- Cybersecurity domain knowledge is advantageous (e.g., OpenID, SAML).
- Understanding of modern development methodologies, tools, and best practices (CI/CD, automated testing, release management, etc.), along with non-functional characteristics such as scalability, security, and high availability.
