Job Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam. The successful candidate will work on a project focused on coupled numerical models of life and landscape evolution, with a specific emphasis on interpreting (phylo-)genetic and taxonomic data from hyper-arid regions.
Responsibilities:- Develop and apply coupled numerical models to investigate the relationships between life and landscape evolution in hyper-arid regions
- Test the impact of tectonic regime on biodiversity distribution across a plateau margin
- Quantify the links between vegetation, river discharge, and erosion patterns in a dry climate environment
- Collaborate with other researchers in the CRC 1211
- Present research findings at scientific meetings and in publications
- PhD in Biological Sciences or Earth Sciences
- Demonstrable knowledge and research experience in biogeography or (phylo-)genetic and taxonomic data analysis
- Experience in numerical modeling and programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, C, C++, or Fortran
- Familiarity with geological, life, and climate evolution timescales
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative environment and publish original research
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
