Creative Color and Material Designer

OBJECTIVE & SIGNIFICANCE FOR THE ORGANIZATION
The primary aim is to craft exceptional designs for Footwear and/or Apparel by focusing on color, materials, and construction techniques.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a continuous awareness of the information necessary to create a collection that resonates with both consumers and the brand. This includes leveraging various sources for insights:
- Attendance at trade fairs, cultural and sporting events, and gathering insights from athletes
- Researching trade publications, popular media, trend forecasting services, and fashion-related magazines and websites
- Conducting store visits, market analysis, and team travel as required
- Analyzing relevant forecasts and sales data in collaboration with Marketing
Assist in defining seasonal and long-term design strategies for the category, focusing on:
- Color applications for Footwear and Apparel
- Material selection for Footwear
- Silhouette development
- Direction for Graphics and Prints
- Creating 3D representations, assets, and digital product information to facilitate effective development and decision-making
Contribute to the design direction through various means, including:
- Providing trend forecasting insights relevant to our target audience and brand
- Collaborating with the Material Team to develop innovative materials
- Working with both Local and Global teams to ensure alignment on Color and Material direction as needed
- Supporting the Senior Team Lead in developing content for collaborative stakeholders, including Marketing, Product Managers, and Designers
Collaborate closely with the design team, which involves:
- Delivering Color and Material insights and guidance
- Engaging in collaborative discussions and critiques
- Gaining a comprehensive understanding of product technicalities
Formulate a strategic overview for the product range, which encompasses:
- Assisting the Senior Team Lead in managing holistic category strategies, rollouts, and merchandising plans
- Supporting communication efforts with Footwear, Apparel, and Graphics Teams to ensure strategic alignment
- Leading initiatives for brand moments and category highlights by coordinating product narratives, Color and Material executions, and rollout strategies in partnership with Design, Marketing, and CTC
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Design Color and Material executions for Footwear for both Inline and Key Account ranges, incorporating input from Design, Marketing, and Development teams. This includes:
- Seasonal preparation and research
- Creating product design presentations in both physical and digital formats
- Engaging in an exploratory process to arrive at final design solutions
- Developing Color CADs, Material Maps, and Graphic Maps
- Considering the broader implications of creating a cohesive product range
- Collaborating closely with Development to facilitate the development process and cost management, ensuring adherence to timelines and seasonal milestones
- Traveling for development purposes as necessary
- Assisting in conveying inspiration and storytelling to Marketing teams
KEY RELATIONSHIPS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Expertise in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Familiarity with PowerPoint and Keynote
- Experience with Apple Mac Operating systems
- 3D design skills are advantageous but not mandatory
- Strong understanding of brand history and current market positioning
- Knowledge of the footwear/streetwear/urban market landscape, consumer behavior, and positioning
- Deep understanding of color and material trends, their applications, and cycles
- Ability to conceptualize design ideas and think creatively
- Capability to create designs that fulfill category requirements and commercial potential
- Innovative approach to designing new initiatives and products
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Strong teamwork skills, engaging with various stakeholders and managing diverse information and relationships
- Drive to advance personal, team, and brand objectives
- Ability to influence and collaborate with key business partners
- Proficiency in 3D design tools and virtual design applications is essential
APP tools: Clo3D, Browzwear, VStitcher, or similar 3D fashion design software
FTW tools: Rhino, Modo, ICAD Pro, or similar 3D design software
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial, graphic, apparel, or footwear design
- Relevant experience in footwear design, fashion design, or a related design environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of art and design principles with a clear understanding of visual design
- Minimum of three years of relevant work experience
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
