Main Responsibilities

The primary function of this role is to oversee culinary operations during a shift in an Army dining facility.

- Prepare and cook a variety of food items in bulk or individual servings, accommodating regular and modified diets for all meal periods.

- Review menus, work sheets, and recipes to determine the types and quantities of food required for service. Cut, trim, and measure ingredients according to established recipes and dietary needs. Prepare fruits and vegetables as needed. Cook meats, fish, poultry, and vegetables using various methods such as roasting, broiling, baking, frying, boiling, steaming, and braising. Adjust cooking temperatures and times, ensuring food quality and safety.

- Prepare sauces, gravies, soups, stews, casseroles, hot cereals, and breakfast items. Create salads and dressings, and prepare desserts. Brew beverages and make sandwiches. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently to produce large quantities of food for service.

- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Completion of vocational training in the culinary field for a minimum of 30 months.

OR

5 years of relevant experience in a culinary role.

Additionally:

Completion of vocational training in the culinary field plus 2 years of experience at a comparable difficulty level.

OR

8 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years at a comparable level.

• Applicants must possess a valid driver's license (Class B).

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:

English proficiency at level A1 and German proficiency at level B2 are required.

Employment Conditions


• This is a permanent full-time position (40 hours/week).

• The designated duty station is Grafenwoehr. The incumbent may be reassigned to another duty station within the same commuting area.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs is required.
