Postdoc in Movement Ecology Full-Time Position

The Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (Leibniz-IZW) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our Department of Ecological Dynamics. The successful candidate will work on the development of the ATLAS telemetry research hub on movement ecology, jointly with the University of Potsdam (UP) and the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field work on birds, including nest box control and animal tagging.
- Support the ATLAS telemetry hub.
- Develop and implement AI tools for the analysis of movement data.
- Conduct manuscript writing and gather experience in supervising MSc/BSc students and interns.
Requirements:
- Doctorate/PhD in ecology, biostatistics, computer science, or related areas.
- Experience in field work, especially with ringing and tagging birds.
- Good knowledge of English.
- Experience with the analysis of movement data and machine learning algorithms.
- Excellent programming skills in R and/or Python.
- Knowledge of agent-based modeling is an asset.
- High motivation, flexibility, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
