Frequency Coordination and Management Officer (m/f/d)
In our pursuit to strengthen OHB's role as a provider of telecommunications systems, we are on the lookout for a System Engineer specializing in Frequency Coordination. Your main duty will involve evaluating the filing status for specific project applications and formulating effective strategies for successful frequency coordination. As the project transitions into the implementation stage, you will manage the filing process with the appropriate regulatory authorities. This position requires extensive interdisciplinary collaboration with the technical payload team, project management, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
Proposal Phase: Assess customer inquiries, review existing filing status utilizing the ITU database, identify potential conflicts for future coordination efforts, and determine expected coordination limits for orbital positions (GEO) or constellation planes (LEO/MEO) from other satellite systems, taking into account available bandwidth, permissible uplink/downlink power flux densities, and anticipated uplink/downlink ASI (adjacent satellite interference) from competing satellite systems. Conduct link budget analyses (using OHB's proprietary tools) to ascertain overall system capacity and aggregated data rates. Implementation Phase: Prepare frequency filings using ITU software tools and forms for advance publication (API) and coordination requests (CR/C). Liaise with regulatory bodies throughout the coordination process, manage coordination cases initiated by other operators, and oversee notification and Bring-into-Use formalities. Assist in frequency filings for ground stations and terminals. Operational Phase: Negotiate frequency sharing agreements with other operators on a non-interference basis for any unresolved coordination issues, and safeguard own frequency filings and coordination outcomes against new filings.Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in RF or communication engineering, or an equivalent qualification. Strong understanding of space-to-ground links, key parameters, and potential interference sources in both uplink and downlink. Familiarity with current standards (DVB-S2X, RCS) and emerging standards (5G/6G NTN) in satellite communications. Previous experience in systems engineering is advantageous. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Proficient knowledge of the English language.What We Offer
