Overview of Your Role

As a Senior Expert (f/m/d) in Power Electronics & Control for Battery Energy Storage, you will leverage your practical expertise in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and power electronics. Your responsibilities will include defining the system architecture, steering the development towards a viable concept and final product, while mentoring and motivating our BESS team to produce top-tier solutions.

Your Contributions
  • Providing guidance and support to the embedded software team in validating high-level models, algorithms, and code based on your field expertise, such as converter or battery technologies.
  • Defining a comprehensive array of integration tests and overseeing their execution to ensure seamless functionality within the overall system.
  • Specifying components and establishing technical requirements in collaboration with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Enhancing the standardization and advancement of our product families and solutions.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical documentation, schematics, and specifications for electrical components and systems, while maintaining thorough documentation of designs, standards, and testing procedures.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, mechanical, software, product management, field installation, commissioning, electrical engineers, and service groups to integrate power electronic systems into solutions and assume responsibility for BESS system architecture.
  • Assisting in risk assessments and safety concepts, while aligning functional safety activities with clients and suppliers.
Qualifications
  • A completed university degree in electrical engineering with a specialization in power electronics, power systems, or controls.
  • Extensive professional experience in power electronics, power systems, or control systems, preferably in battery energy storage projects.
  • Proficiency in prototype design, programming, debugging, mechanical schematics, and validation/verification of in-house algorithms.
  • A solid understanding of power converters (DC-DC, DC-AC) and system engineering & architecture, ideally applied to battery energy storage systems.
  • A belief in the importance of knowledge sharing among colleagues to foster innovative concepts.
  • Preferably, experience with grid code requirements (e.g., VDE AR-N 4110, 4120) and familiarity with fundamental standards (IEC 60364, IEC 60664, IEC 61439, IEC 62477, IEC 62933).
  • A hands-on approach and experience in system testing and defining measurement setups for power electronics.
