Position: Coordinator for WASH Systems Strengthening

Location: Germany, Zimbabwe, or Sierra Leone

This role involves providing strategic direction for our Global WASH program, which focuses on enhancing WASH systems in fragile and developing regions. The program aims to ensure sustainable access to water, sanitation, and hygiene services, contributing to Sustainable Development Goal #6.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and manage the second phase of the WASH systems program, including planning, designing interventions, and overseeing implementation.
  • Coordinate activities across various countries, collaborating with local partners and consultants in conjunction with WHH country offices.
  • Offer technical guidance to field teams and mentor senior personnel in program-related tasks.
  • Provide advisory support and evaluate program workplans throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure efficient and transparent use of financial resources, adhering to donor regulations and WHH policies.
  • Implement quality control measures through a robust monitoring system in partnership with the MEAL team.
  • Facilitate learning and knowledge exchange, working closely with the program's learning module.
  • Act as the primary contact for external partnerships, fostering collaboration with international stakeholders and enhancing program visibility.
  • Review and approve program publications, including newsletters and reports for donors.
  • Represent WHH at high-level meetings and forums relevant to WASH.
  • Manage a network of subject matter experts to support project teams and stakeholders.
  • Advise WHH management on challenges and opportunities to enhance WASH service delivery.
  • Conduct evaluations, manage contracts, and provide training opportunities for country teams and local partners.
  • Participate in and facilitate internal workshops and annual program events.

Your Qualifications:

  • A degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project or program management, particularly in diverse and challenging environments.
  • Demonstrated financial management skills for large-scale programs.
  • Strong networking abilities with experience in engaging various stakeholders.
  • Background in advocacy work within the Global South.
  • Experience in designing and implementing training and learning initiatives.
  • Familiarity with BMZ as a donor is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
