Data Governance Expert - Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Governance Expert to join our team at Data Science Talent. As a Senior Data Governance Expert, you will play a crucial role in defining, driving, and governing the biobanking data domain on a global scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the integration of population-scale healthcare datasets and biobanks into a comprehensive data governance framework, ensuring alignment with FAIR principles and facilitating easy data consumption across the value chain.
- Translate biobank contracts into operational tasks to maintain compliance throughout the data lifecycle, supporting negotiations with external data providers and advising senior management and legal teams.
- Manage relationships with various stakeholders, providing guidance and acting as a decision-making authority, driving operational governance and setting quality and performance standards.
- Lead research proposals to data providers, ensuring operational adherence to data governance principles, and maintaining high standards of quality and compliance, collaborating closely with Data Stewards to implement effective change management and communication processes.
- Work within a multicultural team of Data Engineers, Data Scientists/Machine Learning Engineers, Data Stewards, and Project Managers to derive insights from genomics, omics, EHR, and deep phenotyping datasets, applying machine learning and data science algorithms to support precision medicine initiatives.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Health Business, Health Sciences (e.g., Pharmacy, Medicine, Biology), or Computer Sciences, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience in Business Transformation/Digitalization within the healthcare sector.
- Hands-on expertise with healthcare data domains and standards (e.g., OMOP, FHIR, FAIR) and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, GxP, CCPA, IDMP).
- Strong project and process management skills, including experience in change management and leading project teams.
- Excellent negotiation and influence skills within a matrix and cross-functional organisation.
- Ability to navigate a complex corporate environment and adapt to fast-paced changes.
