Role Overview
The Engineering Compliance Lead will be a vital member of the engineering compliance team, responsible for overseeing regulatory adherence within Amazon's EU fulfillment network facilities.
This position involves cross-functional collaboration with various teams, including engineering, operations, commercial, and legal departments. The successful candidate will assess compliance at the site level and develop solutions while aiding in the standardization of technical and facility-related processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee technical regulatory compliance for Amazon's fulfillment facilities, focusing on building codes, workplace safety, fire safety, environmental laws, and necessary permits.
- Identify and manage compliance-related risks from a multidisciplinary perspective, engaging appropriate stakeholders to mitigate risks effectively.
- Governance of licenses and permits at both site and regional levels.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and permits, including managing external consultants and procuring necessary services.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements; develop and implement new tools and mechanisms.
- Collaborate with construction and engineering teams to ensure compliance management throughout the design and construction phases of new buildings and renovations.
- Support operational teams with change management related to Amazon facilities; provide coaching on compliance throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and technical analyses; recommend enhancements to facility infrastructure, safety, and security.
- Act as the primary contact for site leadership regarding compliance issues, including risk management and program-level reporting.
- Mentor new team members on best practices and coordinate relevant training initiatives.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, construction, surveying, or a related field.
- Professional experience in compliance management, permit management, engineering, or construction management.
- Experience in project management and engineering.
- Proficiency in German and English.
- Willingness to travel frequently within Europe, up to 50% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in facilities management is advantageous.
- Knowledge of additional languages such as French, Polish, Arabic, or Turkish is considered a plus.
