In-Use Vehicle Emissions Engineer

Role Overview:
This position is focused on overseeing in-use vehicle Portable Emissions Measurement System (PEMS) testing initiatives across the United States. The role entails collaboration with both VWGoA and VW AG to ensure compliance with emissions standards.
Key Responsibilities:
PEMS Testing Activities – (~70%)
- Direct PEMS testing operations within the United States.
- Facilitate vehicle acquisition and testing at the Volkswagen Emission Laboratory.
- Establish processes, technical testing protocols, and operational guidelines.
- Analyze PEMS test data and create standardized reporting formats and documentation.
- Prepare technical presentations and findings for VWGoA and VW AG/AUDI AG.
- Assist with additional emissions in-use testing and regulatory tasks as necessary.
- Represent VWGoA in industry technical discussions and forums.
Certification and Regulatory Support – (~30%)
- Assist with local certification testing programs, including vehicle readiness and testing.
- Support root cause analysis for test vehicles and preparation for agency certification testing.
- Engage with VWGoA, VW AG, and AUDI AG Emission Committees.
- Contribute to other emissions regulatory activities as needed.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in Emissions Engineering.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required.
- Master's Degree is preferred.

Specialized Knowledge:
- Familiarity with Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS).
- Understanding of Volkswagen/Audi Powertrain Hardware & Control Systems.
- Background in the automotive industry, particularly regarding US emissions and OBD.
- Experience working internationally and awareness of cultural differences.
- Knowledge of emission measurement methodologies and standards.
- Proficient in application tools such as INCA and Diagra.
- Understanding of vehicle emission standards and certification requirements.
Work Flexibility:
Willingness to travel to various testing locations as required.
