Role Summary
:As a key member of the Volkswagen team, you will be responsible for administering in-use vehicle PEMS testing activities in the United States. This includes coordination of VWGoA and VW AG PEMS activities, ensuring seamless execution and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
PEMS (Portable Emissions Measurement Systems) – (~70%)
• Lead PEMS testing activities in the United States, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
• Coordinate vehicle procurement and testing at Volkswagen Emission Laboratory, ensuring timely and accurate results.
• Develop processes, technical test procedures, and work instructions to support PEMS testing.
• Perform analysis for PEMS test data and develop standard reporting templates and reports, providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Create technical presentations and results to VWGoA and VW AG/AUDI AG, effectively communicating complex data.
• Support additional EEO in-use testing and regulatory activities as required, demonstrating adaptability and expertise.
• Represent VWGoA in Industry technical forums (e.g. SAE, CRC), promoting Volkswagen's interests and expertise.
Certification and General Regulatory Activities – (~30%)
• Support local certification test programs, including vehicle preparation and testing, root cause analysis, and readiness for agency certification.
• Support the VWGoA, VW AG, and AUDI AG Emission Committees, contributing to the development of regulatory strategies and policies.
• Support other EEO regulatory activities as required, showcasing your ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of Emissions Engineering experience, with a strong background in PEMS testing and regulatory compliance.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a technical field, with a focus on emissions engineering or a related field.
• Master's Degree desired, with a focus on emissions engineering or a related field.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Computer savvy, with experience in application tools (INCA, Diagra) and a strong understanding of emission measurement processes and procedures.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle emission standards, emission certification requirements, and AECD methodology, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a real-world setting.
Work Flexibility:
• Willing to travel to various test locations in the US and Germany, with possible relocation to California (Oxnard area).
