About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished leader to fill the position of Head of Statistical Genomics at KEMIO Consulting. This role will be instrumental in leading a large team of senior scientists with expertise in human cohort phenotyping, statistical genetics, functional genomics, translational research, and statistical modeling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of experienced scientists in statistical and genetics research, with a focus on delivering novel therapeutic concepts in disease areas including inflammation, metabolic, immuno-oncology, and oncology.
  • Develop and implement strategies for genomics-driven drug discovery, collaborating with cross-functional teams, including computational biology, digital science, and data infrastructure teams.
  • Pioneer advancements in technology capability, influencing the efficiency and scalability of discovery solutions.
  • Propose and implement cutting-edge methods to ensure the team is at the forefront of the latest technology and translational knowledge.
  • Lead external collaborations with CROs and academia, managing additional postdoctoral researchers, and seeking new opportunities for partnership.
  • Present strategies and findings to stakeholders and diverse audiences.
Requirements
  • PhD degree in statistical genetics, bioinformatics, genetic epidemiology, computational biology, statistics, or computer science.
  • Experience working within the pharmaceutical industry with several years of line management experience.
  • Deep knowledge of statistical genetics, genomics, with proven experience in developing advanced techniques, software development in R/Python.
  • Proven past experience in bringing innovative new ideas to your team, as well as skills in working collaboratively with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication in English and great presentation skills, with the ability to communicate research projects and their impact to non-technical audiences and stakeholders.
  • Able to relocate to Germany and work on-site at least 2/3 days per week.
